ALPIN LOACKER Pro Series, Foldable Carbon Trekking Poles

In my opinion, the main benefits of these poles are their lightness and that they are very compact, as well as their comfortable handles, which are built from cork, which ensures that when our hands get sweaty, they do not slip and we can have a better grip. They are also very comfortable, as they do not transfer vibrations to the body thanks to the carbon fiber.

Below you will find my in-depth review about one of their products – ALPIN LOACKER Pro Series, Foldable Carbon Trekking Poles with Accessories.

1. Why did I choose ALPIN LOACKER Pro Series poles?

The Alpin Loacker carbon pro-series poles immediately caught my attention mainly because of their durability, lightness, and the reduced space they occupy because they are built using carbon fiber. The price is indeed a little higher than other aluminum poles, but for me, the weight is essential. If we add together all weight of different equipment and materials, it can translate into carrying several kilograms more during the trekking, and that will make our routes a lot heavier. For these reasons, carrying light and resistant materials is one of they keys to success.

I bought these poles to make the Torres del Paine trekking in Patagonia, one of the most demanding trekking experience in the world. I needed to carry food, tent, bag and other survival equipment for 12 days, and for me, it was critical to reduce the overall weight because when we practice on the mountain, lightness and quality are crucial for success.

In addition, and one of the things I liked the most about this Austrian company, is its commitment to the environment and sustainability. People who enjoy nature want to do it in its purest conditions. Therefore, I think that respecting this principle is essential for people who practice mountaineering.

2. How do I plan to use ALPIN LOACKER Pro Series trekking poles?

As I mentioned before, I bought Alpin Loacker poles for trekking in Patagonia. They worked really well for me, because they have different accessories that adapt to the terrain. For example, they adapt perfectly to snow, rock, asphalt, and dirt terrain.

I usually do about three or four routes per month, and of course, I always use these poles during my trekking trips.

3. How to use ALPIN LOACKER poles and description about the main features

The poles come in a small carrying bag. Inside it, you will find them divided into three sections. You can spread them out and easily put them together.

Once the sections are attached, we pull the second section until we hear a click. At that moment, the pole will be ready to use. Once this is done, you can adjust it to the preferred length.

You can also use various special accessories and attach them to the poles depending on the terrain, which you will encounter. You can also carry these accessories in the carrying bag and swap them out at any time during the route.

Accessories to use depending on the terrain:

  • The one in the shape of a star is perfect for snow.
  • The shoe-shaped one is made for terrain with sand, grass, etc.
  • The block that is already attached to the pole is best used for asphalt terrain.
  • These accessories can also be removed from the pole, leaving a metallic end. You can add a circular plastic piece, creating poles that will be perfect for rocky terrains.

Once you have prepared the poles, you can place your hands in the pole straps and adjust them. To do it, just make the weight fall on our wrists while you hold the poles.

Now you are ready to enjoy your favorite routes!

4. To whom is this product suitable?

The poles are designed for trekking, either running in the mountains or walking. In my case, I use them for both. They can also be very useful for people who walk in the city and need additional support. The poles remove some of the weight and pressure when we walk. This reduces the strain on our joints, especially our knee joints.

5. Product contents and specification

The product contains:

  • Two foldable poles,
  • One add-on accessory for snow,
  • One for asphalt,
  • One for dirt and mixed terrain,
  • One for rocky terrain,
  • And a carrying bag.

6. Main benefits

This material also ensures that the poles are really lightweight. And what do we as people who trek regularly, want? Exactly, lightness!

In my opinion, this is one of the most important factors if not the main one, which we must consider when we decide to purchase a product for trekking. If we want comfort throughout our trip and save energy during various routes, we need to reduce the weight of our equipment.

Imagine the sum of the weight of all your equipment, it can easily translate into extra kilograms when added together, and this is definitely something that we must take care of.

7. Features I like about ALPIN LOACKER trekking poles

These poles have many great features, but I will talk about the ones I like the most.

  • The size of the pole once folded is 35 cm.
  • Lightweight (each pole weighs only 230 grams)
  • Carrying bag (once you finish trekking, you can put the poles in the carrying bag and keep your backpack clean).
  • Ergonomic handle made from cork (it will give our hand a better grip, as it is more porous than a traditional plastic handle).
  • Resistance (carbon fiber is a really resistant and light material. It also absorbs the vibrations produced when walking. In comparison, other materials do not absorb the vibrations so effectively, which are then transferred to your body).
  • Warranty

My name is Miguel. I'm from Madrid (Spain), and I've been practicing climbing for more than 15 years. This has been my passion and my way of understanding life since I tried my first climbing route for the first time in La Pedriza. Climbing has led me to explore wonderful places in different parts of the world (Patagonia, Morocco, Chile, Argentina, France, Spain, and Switzerland), where I have enjoyed the best walls ever; but I would definitely leave this in the background to talk about the most special part of climbing which is meeting people, cultures, and traveling with friends and family.

I have always liked teaching and also learning from my students, from a very young age. That is why my entire professional career has been channeled in this direction. I started as a canyoning instructor, ski instructor and climbing instructor. But later, I got a master’s degree in ELE and dedicated myself to teaching Spanish.
