Below you will find my in-depth review about one of their products – Mammut Neon Speed 15 backpack.
1. Why did I choose MAMMUT backpack?
Firstly, Mammut brand is synonymous with quality and experience, this brand has 155 years long history and it has always at the top in terms of sports equipment and technical clothing. It's not the first time I've had Mammut gear, in fact, I always prefer to buy their products for my mountain adventures, and these products have always performed at the highest quality level.
When I chose this backpack, I considered different aspects. On the one hand, its price is a bit higher compared to backpacks from other brands. But on the other hand, my confidence in the brand.
Undoubtedly what I really loved about this Mammut Neon Speed 15 backpack, is its simplicity, but without missing any detail, its minimalist design, reinforced materials, quick drying features, hydration compartment and many different spaces to carry all the climbing equipment.
All these features are essential for great experience and convinced me to choose this amazing backpack. And I couldn’t be happier with the decision.
In addition, Mammut is a company that really cares about sustainability and respect for the environment. In addition, their fabulous materials make their products last longer, and consequently we do not waste a lot of raw material.
2. How do I plan to use MAMMUT Neon Speed 15 backpack?
The Mammut Neon Speed 15 backpack is designed for sport climbing, alpine climbing, mixed climbing, trad climbing and day trekking, although it can also be used for cycling as it has a special place for the hydration bag.
I'm using the backpack mainly for long climbs, because it allows me to carry practically everything in a very small and compact space, it's also very light and convenient on the wall.
I have also used it for trekking, cycling, classic climbing and some mountain races.
3. How to use MAMMUT backpack and description about the main features
The backpack is very intuitive to use. The first and most important thing is to organize it correctly, the heaviest things should be placed at the bottom, and the lightest at the top. In addition to this, you should also prioritize the equipment placement according to its use. For example, if you carry an emergency pen, it should not be placed at the very top because you probably won’t need to use it regularly. However, if we are constantly using water or a walkie talkie, we should place these items in an easily accessible area. Now that I have explained the backpack content organization, I am going to explain the main features of the Mammut Neon Speed 15 backpack.

4. To whom is this product suitable?
This product is perfect for people who want lightness and comfort in the most demanding climbs, it is a very versatile backpack, and has useful features such as additional holders where you can place the ice axes etc.
These versatile features make it perfect for both sport, classic and alpine climbing.
I also recommend it for those who practice via Ferrata routes, cycling and trail running.
5. Product contents and specification
The product contains:
Mammut Neon Speed 15 backpack.
The backpack has 15 liters-capacity, which would be a little bigger if we consider the enlargement of the front pocket, where the helmet is housed.
It has a water-repellent treatment, but it is not fully waterproof.
Fully adjustable backpack, you will not feel that you are carrying it on your back.
It has a front pocket for the cell phone. From my point of view, it is somewhat small. For example, my mobile phone doesn’t fit in with the protective cover, so I had to remove the phone cover.
Product dimensions: 25 x 15 x 17 cm; 410 grams.
Country of origin: Switzerland
6. Main benefits
When you have a backpack like the Mammut Neon Speed 15, you immediately recognize the quality of its materials. You can carry all your climbing equipment in a very small space, which is what we, as climbers who also do big wall climbing, are looking for. Another important feature is its low weight and a space to put a hydration bag (the hydration bag itself is not included).
In addition to this, we can add all its strategically structured pockets, for example, the front one for the cell phone. The thoughtful placement of these pockets allows us to save time and we don’t have to stop to take something what we need, so we can always be in the movement during our route.
Another benefit is its compartment for the hydration bag, this will allow to refresh without having to stop to get the water bottle from within the bag.
Going out to the mountain with a whistle is essential, because if the weather conditions worsen (low visibility) and we find ourselves in a situation where we need help, the built-in whistle will be useful for getting the attention of the people around us.
7. Features I like about MAMMUT Neon Speed 15 backpack
Lightness, it is a backpack that weighs only 400 grams. For me, this is one of the most important things when I practice mountaineering, because if we add the weight of all our equipment that we carry, we can end up carrying extra kilograms which make the experience more difficult.
Simplicity, one of the things that attracted my attention was its minimalist concept which still managed to keep all important features and details.
Comfort, I didn’t know this until I tried it. And it is surprisingly great – an extremely comfortable backpack. The lower part wraps around the waist, and the adjustable straps on the handles makes my hikes and climbs very comfortable.

Author: Miguel | Let's Review
My name is Miguel. I'm from Madrid (Spain), and I've been practicing climbing for more than 15 years. This has been my passion and my way of understanding life since I tried my first climbing route for the first time in La Pedriza. Climbing has led me to explore wonderful places in different parts of the world (Patagonia, Morocco, Chile, Argentina, France, Spain, and Switzerland), where I have enjoyed the best walls ever; but I would definitely leave this in the background to talk about the most special part of climbing which is meeting people, cultures, and traveling with friends and family.
I have always liked teaching and also learning from my students, from a very young age. That is why my entire professional career has been channeled in this direction. I started as a canyoning instructor, ski instructor and climbing instructor. But later, I got a master’s degree in ELE and dedicated myself to teaching Spanish.
